MUSD looking for public input on budget cuts

The Maricopa Unified School District is in the process of determining its budget for the 2013-14 school year.  Due to more budget cutting by the State of Arizona, the District's $29 Million dollar budget will have to be slashed by $1.5 Million.

Two items under consideration for cuts are the possible elimination of all-day kindergarten (providing half-day only). If that decision is made parents would have the option of paying tuition for the second half of the day. The other item being considered is the possible closure of one school.

District Superintendent Steve Chestnut is holding two "Parent/Community Coffee" meetings on Wednesday, February 6th.  The first will be at 10:00 am in the District Board Room at 44150 West Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway.  The second will be at 7:00 pm in the Santa Cruz Elementary School Library, 19845 North Costa Del Sol Parkway in Tortosa.

Now is the time to let the District know what's important to you!
