City names new Finance Director
City Manager Trisha Sorensen has announced the addition of Brian Ritschel to the City of Maricopa team. Ritschel will become the new Finance Director on September 30th.
Ritschel has more than 15 years of governmental finance experience serving as an auditor, accounting manager, finance and administration manager for a water and power utility and, most recently, as a consultant for local government clients. He is experienced in financial statement auditing, managing capital improvement projects and the annual budget process.
“Brian Ritschel is a highly-qualified finance professional who will be a tremendous asset to the organization,” said Sorensen. “It was an extensive recruitment process and I believe Brian will be a great addition to the City’s leadership. His expertise will be invaluable in our ongoing efforts for a financially sustainable, transparent organization and a prosperous future for our community.”
Ritschel was most recently with Heinfeld, Meech & Co., P.C. in Phoenix. Prior to that, he worked with the cities of Corona, Calif. and Chandler, Ariz. He has a Bachelor of Science degree in Business with an emphasis in accounting and is a certified public accountant and fraud examiner. Ritschel is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association and the Government Finance Officers Association of Arizona.
