City celebrates its founding at Stagecoach Days
Maricopa’s Stagecoach Days celebration, sponsored by Orbitel Communications, kicks off on Saturday October 19th at Pacana Park. Stagecoach Days is the annual celebration of the city's founding and cultural heritage.
Whether you are a senior cowboy or a little buckaroo, this year’s festivities offer fun and games for all ages. The children will fly high in the Kids Corral, an interactive area of the festival with 10 inflatable bouncers and a rock climbing wall. Unlimited Corral passes can be purchased for $3 at the entrance gate. For kids those who love furry friends, a petting zoo and pony rides are also available at no charge.
Laser Tag, Zorbing Balls and Mechanical Bull Rides are on the line-up for our bigger cowboys and cowgirls as well as watching the talented performers from our local clubs and squads. Plus, everyone can experience what it was like to travel in the old west with a ride on the Wells Fargo Stagecoach.
There is a brand-new activity on the agenda for this year; a local rivalry Flag Football Game that pits Maricopa High School Alumni against Maricopa Community Leaders. The action starts at 4:30 pm on the north field, so bring a chair and cheer on your favorite team.
No festival is complete without some great food, a little mingling and live music. At Stagecoach Days, the Beer Saloon will offer up cold adult beverages and entertainment to complement the fabulous food vendors from around the area. Local businesses and craft vendors will be on display to showcase their wares and at 7:00 pm, The Desert Dixie Band kicks off with live music.
The Stagecoach Days celebration runs from 4:00 to 9:00 pm on October 19th at Pacana Park located at Porter Road and Allen Stephens Parkway. Admission is free and complimentary shuttles will drop you at the event entrance. Shuttle locations are: Legacy Traditional School, Santa Rosa Elementary School, Santa Cruz Elementary School, Maricopa Wells Middle School, Butterfield Elementary School and Ace Hardware. The Ace Hardware location has ADA access.
